For 10 young high school students from Kolej Yayasan Saad, Melaka, the excitement of scientific discovery was illuminated by a visit to our laboratory, Zeolite and Nanostructured Materials Research Laboratory, Kolej Sri Endon. Researchers at ZNMR Laboratory are pursuing research on zeolites, nanostructured materials, and silica on catalysis and silica aerogel applications on thermal insulation properties. 9 Form IV and one Form II students from KYS were hoping to learn more about science and experience first hand technical experience and experiments at the Laboratory.
The students were briefed by Professor Halimaton on the production of silica from rice husk and toured the Laboratory and the students were accompanied by their Chemistry techer, Robert Tan.
Students happy at first hand knowledge of experimentation being briefed by Sya
At the end of the day, the students were shown examples of posters and how to write an abstract and reports on their experimental work.
