This blog is about our experiences in the BILIK AKTIVITI JABATAN KIMIA – ‘our home away from home sanctuary’. Here we SHARE our joys and pains, celebrate our successes, and motivate ourselves. Sometimes…. we even do outrageous things to just get break away from the routines of teaching our BELOVED students and dabbling in research.… such as argue and debate, eat and laugh out loud. Welcome to our awesome world!!!

Assalammualaikum and Salam Sejahtera.
It gives me great pleasure to write this foreword for the Undergraduate Research (Projek Sarjana Muda) Symposium 2010/2011 session.
Let me begin by reiterating that university have fundamental role of undergraduate education to develop students and support their individual growth in possessing certain skills and knowledge. In keeping with this educational philosophy and mission, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia has embarks many initiatives to ensure our students immerse the excellent teaching and learning process in the supportive ecosystem. Our entire faculty educational program pursues this goal, whereby final year students will be engaged with research training that provides them with a complement of skills essential as the science-based students.
Therefore, this symposium will be an appropriate platform for the students to share their scientific research findings in wide range disciplines of science. Their works will be assessed to ensure the research encompass expected qualities. It is hoped that the symposium will play an important role to encourage and to nurture a good research culture among the students. In addition, this symposium will enable students to practice and experience academic presentation that useful for them.
Finally, sincere appreciation and gratitude are expressed to all committee for their relentless efforts in organizing this symposium. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all lecturers, staffs and students for their encouraging support in making this symposium a success.
Wassalam and best wishes,
Thank you.

We are delighted to organize the Undergraduate Research (Projek Sarjana Muda) Symposium for 2010/2011 session. I wish to extend my warmest congratulations to our students who will present their research findings and exchange ideas during this 3 days symposium. I believe all students have made diligent efforts to ensure their research complete within the schedule.
This Undergraduate Research (Projek Sarjana Muda) allows our students to execute a guided research project in field of chemistry and documented their findings. Students will learn to gather informations, construct research methodologies, assemble results and built-up discussions with concrete conclusions. They need to acquire and apply knowledge of chemistry concept in solving chemical problems based on scientific facts and findings. In the end, students are required to submit the report and having presentation in the research symposium.
This symposium will provide a perfect event for students to present their findings, disseminate ideas and serve as a platform to experience scientific presentation. I sincerely hope that this will spur further development and benefit them.
Finally, I would like to thank all staff; academic and non-academic for their commitment in supervising students with high quality research. Sincere appreciation goes to all committee for ensuring the smooth running of this undergraduate research program.
Wassalam and thank you,

Assalamualaikum and Salam Sejahtera
I wish to welcome all to the Department of Chemistry Undergraduate Research (Projek Sarjana Muda) Symposium 2010/2011.
165 students will present their research findings in this symposium and I would like to congratulate them. I believe all students have demonstrated the intellectual skills and competency with sufficient research exposure throughout year in completion the individual research.
They have faced various changing and unpredictable situations which require high desire and maturity to learn continuously. In the end, all of the research endeavours were rewarded with fruitful findings that will be shared during the research symposium.
This symposium was organized as such to enable students engaging the formal scientific presentation that stimulate the exchange of ideas across the chemistry fields. Students are required to present and discuss the results within the expected level. They will be evaluated based on several criteria and I wish each of them delivering a successful and informative presentation.
On behalf of the committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all lecturers and staff who have contributed either directly or indirectly throughout the undergraduate research (projek sarjana muda) program. Last and not least, many thanks to the committee members for the hard work in ensuring the successful in managing this research program.
Wassalam and all the best.

Simposium Projek Sarjana Muda 2010/ 2011
